The Story Behind Newrain
From a single threading station in Arlington, Texas to six thriving locations and 1,800+ five-star reviews — and now, a national expansion driven by the belief that community entrepreneurs deserve a better starting point than we had.
The Story of Newrain Ghimire
Threading professional since 2007 · Founded Newrain in 2014 · Featured twice in Voyage Dallas Magazine · Built 6 DFW locations from a single part-time station
Threading in Her Teens — Nepal, 2007
Newrain Ghimire grew up in Nepal where threading was not a salon service — it was simply part of life. Women threaded at home, passed the skill between generations, shaped each other's brows the way families share any tradition: without instruction manuals, without formal training, with only hands and practice and the standard of people who genuinely care about the result.
She began threading as a teenager. Not for clients — for the love of it. The precision of the thread, the way a single well-shaped brow could change a face, the satisfaction of a client who looked in the mirror and smiled. By 2007 she had her own salon in Nepal, serving clients professionally, building the kind of loyal following that only comes from genuine skill and genuine care.
Threading was her identity long before it became her business.
Texas, 2011 — Starting Over
When she moved to Texas in 2011, she arrived with a skill the local market did not fully understand yet and a standard the local market was not meeting. She worked at a local salon first — learning the American business environment, observing what clients experienced, taking note of what was broken. Pricing was inconsistent. Customer service was unreliable. The craft itself was often rushed. She saw every gap clearly.
"All of these shortcomings made me realize that I could absolutely make the difference in this business," she told Voyage Dallas. She had spent years in Nepal building something excellent. She was ready to build it again — this time in Texas, on her own terms.
January 2014 — One Suite. Part-Time. Alone.
She started small in January 2014 — renting a single suite, working part-time, threading every client herself. No employees. No marketing budget. No name recognition. Just the same standard she had held to since her teens in Nepal, applied to every person who sat down in her chair.
She worked seven days a week. She gave her best to every client. They came back. They brought friends. The word spread the way it always spreads when someone is genuinely excellent at what they do — person to person, without advertising, through the oldest marketing channel there is: trust.
Within a year, the demand outgrew the suite. She moved to a larger space. The first three months there, she was at a loss — higher rent, more utilities, the same revenue. She hired her first employee anyway, because she refused to make clients wait. The quality held. The clients stayed. The business grew.
That is the foundation of every Newrain location that followed. That is what 1,800+ five-star Google reviews are built on. Not a system — a standard, set by one person, in one small suite, in January 2014.
Her journey from Nepal to six DFW locations, building a franchise program designed to empower women and aspiring entrepreneurs.
How she started from one part-time suite in 2014, the challenges of building from scratch, and what makes the Newrain standard different.
Those lessons — paid for in time, money, and more than a few sleepless nights — are exactly what we now hand to every partner who joins the Newrain family. The system we built is the answer to every mistake we made along the way.
What 19+ Years Teaches You
By the time we opened our third location, patterns became clear. The salons that thrived weren't the ones with the best decor or the lowest prices. They were the ones with consistent service quality, a strong Google presence, an engaged regular client base, and an owner who treated the business like a real business — not a side project.
By location six — inside a Walmart Supercenter in Fort Worth — we had something most beauty businesses never develop: a repeatable, documented, technology-supported system that any motivated operator could run successfully. That realization is what led to the Newrain franchise and operator partnership program.
We're not expanding because we want to sell franchises. We're expanding because we've watched too many talented entrepreneurs — especially South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Hispanic women — struggle with obstacles we already know how to solve. The system is built. The technology is built. The brand is proven. Now we're looking for the right people to carry it forward.
From One Station to Six Locations
First Location — Arlington, TX
Newrain opens its first threading salon in Arlington, Texas. Word spreads quickly through the local community. The first 100 reviews come from neighbors and regulars.
Location 2 — Expansion Begins
A second DFW location opens. We learn how to hire, train, and replicate the service quality that made the first salon work. The model starts to take shape.
500+ Google Reviews
Newrain crosses 500 verified five-star Google reviews — a milestone that transforms our digital visibility and begins driving consistent walk-in traffic to all locations.
3 Locations Across DFW
With three operating locations, we begin documenting our systems formally — operations playbooks, hiring standards, service protocols. The foundation for a franchise model is laid.
Process & Technology
We build proprietary tools — systemize our processes. Technology becomes a key competitive advantage at every location.
6 Locations + Walmart
Newrain's newest location opens inside a Walmart Supercenter in Fort Worth — validating a high-traffic retail anchor model. 1,800+ reviews across all locations. National expansion begins.
The Values Behind Every Decision
These aren't words on a wall. They're what drove every location we opened and every partner we chose.
Community First
We were built by a community and for a community. Every location we open is meant to serve the people around it — not extract from them. Our partners understand this instinctively because they're part of their communities too.
Radical Honesty
We tell you the truth — about the opportunity, about the challenges, about whether your city makes sense right now. We'd rather lose a franchise sale than set someone up for failure. This is a long-term relationship, not a transaction.
Systems Over Hustle
We believe the right systems beat raw hustle every time. Our job is to hand you a machine that works — so you can focus on leadership and relationships instead of reinventing the wheel every week.
Long-Term Thinking
We're not interested in opening 100 locations fast. We're interested in opening the right locations with the right partners and building something that lasts. Our first location is still thriving after 19+ years. That's the standard.
Immigrant Entrepreneurship
We know the immigrant entrepreneur's path — the skepticism from banks, the lack of formal networks, the cultural navigation. We built this program specifically with that journey in mind. You are not a risk to us. You are our people.
Technology as an Equalizer
Small businesses shouldn't be disadvantaged just because they can't afford marketing agencies or tech developers. The tools we've built give every Newrain partner the digital firepower of a much larger operation — leveling the playing field.
If This Story Resonates, Let's Talk
The best partnerships start with honest conversations. Schedule a discovery call — no pitch, no pressure, just two people figuring out if this makes sense together.
Six Locations, Built One at a Time
Every location was opened deliberately — never rushed, never over-leveraged. Each one proved the model before the next was started.
The first Newrain Threading Salon opens in DFW. A single station, word-of-mouth growth, and the beginning of everything. The model is tested and proved for the first time.
The second location opens two years later — proving the first was not luck. Systems, training, and client retention processes are formalized across both locations.
The third location launches alongside the first generation of Newrain's digital infrastructure — loyalty app, review automation, and booking technology. The system becomes the competitive advantage.
Two locations open in the same year for the first time — proof that the operational systems can support parallel growth. The 1,800+ Google review milestone is reached across the network.
The sixth location opens as Newrain begins offering franchise and operator partnerships to bring this system to cities across America. The platform is ready. The partners are who we're looking for now.
